How to look after your skin during isolation...

Isolation habits

Isolation has taken its toll in more ways than one: The lack of social interaction, the desire to have 4 glasses of wine before 10am and excessive banana bread baking before it even hits Wednesday and we binge out on takeaway pizza.

Going into isolation, we all thought this would be a great time to start practicing self care and allowing our hair and skin to reap the quarantine benefits. However, has anyone else noticed that their skin is not glowing how we presumed it would be after weeks of no make up AND being exposed to less pollution? US TOO!

Why is this happening?

Some of us are falling into a routine without realising. We are not changing the sheets as much as we should and a lot of us are ordering more greasy take aways as we find ourselves struggling to cook 3 times a day. We are not cleansing our face at night like we would after a full day of make up and forgetting to moisturise just because we are not leaving the house; all of this is having an effect on our skin.

The finer details

Bacteria gathers on sheets, pillows and furniture – as most of us are spending more time at home we need to clean our sheets more to allow our skin to breathe. Takeaways and unhealthy food choices are also a massive contributor to bad skin during this time, in addition to not showering straight away after a home workout. It’s just as important to keep a routine now and to choose to look after yourself, both physically and mentally.
